Biography

Dr. Luissa Vahedi is a social epidemiologist, who is passionate about strategically and critically combining qualitative and quantitative methods in global health. She is currently a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada postdoctoral scholar at the University of Toronto and researcher at The Center for Global Child Health, SickKids Hospital. Dr. Vahedi holds a Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis and an MSc in epidemiology from Queen’s University. In 2024, Dr. Vahedi was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award by the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis for her role in graduate-level global health course design and delivery. Inspired by interdisciplinary training in global health and development, Dr. Vahedi specializes in the application and advancement of mixed-methods research to address global health disparities rooted in structural disparities.Thank you for your interest in the Global Health Seminar Series!
