Robert Merritt is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, Emory University and The University of the South (Sewanee) where he received academic training in sociology & anthropology, medical sociology, public health, and research methods & statistics. His career has spanned over 35 years with research positions at the Smithsonian Institution (SI), Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and teaching positions at Washington and Lee University, Georgia State University, the University of Florida, and Emory University.
